Construction & Building Services Recruitment – Specialists and Executives for an Industry in Transformation

Managing and recruiting in the middle of a downturn — while innovation becomes non-negotiable under intense cost pressure and an uncertain investment and funding landscape, and traditional craftsmanship gives way to BIM, serial construction and the digital building site. Challenges like these call for the best people on your team: talent with genuine commitment and resilience. As specialised construction and building services headhunters, that is exactly who we find for you.

Recruitment Challenges in the Construction Industry

1. Persistent Skills Shortage – Rising Demand Meets Scarce Resources

To meet the climate targets set by the German government and the EU, a large share of the existing building stock must undergo energy-efficient renovation. At the same time, demand is rising for new builds as well as technical upgrades, refurbishments and repairs.

The need for qualified specialists has increased dramatically in recent years — particularly in structural construction, utility engineering and building services. Driven in part by demographic change, the number of vacancies in the construction industry has almost quadrupled since 2009.

This leaves companies facing the challenge of appearing visible, attractive and clearly positioned in the competition for the best talent. It is precisely here that clients and candidates alike value expert consultancy, targeted search and clear communication — the foundation for securing talent that is the right personal fit.

2. Changing Job Profiles – Digitalisation, Sustainability & New Skills

Evolving technologies — from the digitalisation of processes through to entirely new methods of construction execution — are reshaping expectations of specialists across every area of the construction industry. Smart building services, BIM models, IoT-enabled systems, energy-efficient solutions and connected building systems are becoming increasingly important.

As a result, the requirements placed on candidates are also changing when it comes to:

  • technical expertise through to specialisation,
  • knowledge of digital tools and systems,
  • innovative, sustainability-oriented thinking,
  • a willingness to keep developing their skills.

Professional recruitment must take these developments into account and identify candidates who can play an active role in shaping this transformation.

Despite a noticeable investment backlog, the construction industry remains a dynamic economic sector in Germany. Global megatrends such as climate protection, energy efficiency, digitalisation and urbanisation are profoundly changing the demands placed on companies and their employees.

This is particularly evident in building services and utility engineering: demand is growing steadily for qualified specialists in plumbing, heating and air-conditioning technology, pipeline construction, electrical engineering and integrated building services engineering (TGA).

As a boutique recruitment consultancy specialising in this field, we help owner-managed SMEs and group-affiliated companies alike to secure exactly the specialists and executives who can master these tasks and safeguard their position in the market over the long term.

Recruitment Q&A

How do you find candidates who are motivated to move?

As experienced recruitment consultants, we consider right at the start of the search which target group would gain real added value from the advertised position. No one changes employer without good, understandable reasons, and it is our job to identify these in advance.

What does the up-to-24-month guarantee in recruitment mean?

If a separation occurs during this period due to professional or personal shortcomings, we carry out the search again, free of charge! And if the candidate resigns of their own accord within this time, we will likewise search again at no additional fee.

How long does it take to fill a position?

Our candidate search follows a clearly defined process, so you will have the key candidates in front of you within four to a maximum of six weeks. On top of that come your own decision-making process and the candidate's notice period.

What happens if you can't fill the position?

The full fee only applies if the position is filled through our headhunting. However, it is rare for us not to be able to fill a role. If we run into difficulties, we work with you to develop alternative solutions or search strategies, which usually allows us to achieve a satisfactory placement.
