This is exactly where our headhunting services come in.
Your Headhunter for medical technology - Schlagheck + Radtke
Medical technology is one of the most innovative and fastest-growing industries in Germany. Over 93% of companies have fewer than 250 employees (2024) – often highly specialized hidden champions with a strong export focus.
Small and medium-sized enterprises form the backbone of this industry – with short decision-making processes, high innovative strength, and often unique expertise. At the same time, requirements are growing, placing particular demands on SMEs. In addition to technical excellence, the requirements for interdisciplinary thinking, regulatory knowledge, and market understanding are becoming increasingly demanding. Today, medical technology is more than just hardware – integrated system solutions, digital interfaces, software components, and data management are in demand.
This means that companies are not only looking for product specialists, but also experts in regulatory affairs, clinical evaluation, usability, health economics, and international market approval. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular need individuals who, in addition to broad specialist knowledge, also have entrepreneurial thinking, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
We help you find exactly these key individuals – with a deep understanding of industry-specific requirements, cultural fit with your company, and the dynamics of the medtech market.

Growth under regulatory pressure – skilled labor shortage as a risk
Pressure to innovate meets regulatory density, with complete unpredictability in the American market – this sums up the current situation for many medium-sized medical technology companies. Technological progress is rapid: AI, robotics, individualized medicine, and networked systems are changing development, production, and application. However, the introduction of new products is being severely slowed down by the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) – with increased documentation requirements, longer testing processes, and rising certification costs.
Added to this is the acute shortage of skilled workers: there is already a shortage of thousands of qualified employees, especially in the areas of regulatory affairs, clinical trials, software development, quality management, and IT security. According to a survey by SPECTARIS, more than 80% of medical technology companies see the shortage of personnel as one of the biggest obstacles to growth.
This is particularly acute for medium-sized companies: competition for skilled workers is fierce, visibility on the job market is often limited, and the requirements for new employees are more complex than ever.
As a specialized recruitment consultancy, we help you meet these challenges with strategic recruitment quality—through precise headhunting, in-depth market knowledge, and a robust network within the medtech industry

Our quality is based on our experience in the medical technology industry:
Manufacture of medical packaging – Sales Manager Southeast Asia
We filled a Sales Manager Southeast Asia position for a manufacturer of medical packaging (family business, 800 employees). The challenge was to find someone locally who – in addition to industry experience – either lives there as a Westerner or has local experience working for German companies and with our work culture.
The search was resolved with the help of our network partner in Thailand, and the position was filled by a German living in Malaysia.
Highly regulated laboratory company – Management
In a challenging environment between science and business, we assisted in filling a management position in a highly regulated medical technology laboratory company.
With annual sales of around €8 million and ambitious growth targets of +15% per year, the company was at a turning point – it needed a leader who combined entrepreneurial thinking, a focus on results, and a deep understanding of laboratory processes.
Through targeted market analysis and direct contact with more than 100 decision-makers from 70 target companies, we were able to identify a highly qualified candidate.
FAQ
How do you find candidates who are motivated to change jobs?
As experienced HR consultants, we consider right from the start of the search which target group the advertised position offers added value for. Nobody changes employers without good, understandable reasons—and we need to have identified these beforehand.
What does a warranty of up to 24 months mean in personnel consulting?
If the candidate leaves during this period due to professional or personal shortcomings, we will conduct the search again—free of charge! If the candidate resigns during this period of their own accord, we will also search again free of charge.
How long does it take to fill a position?
Our recruitment process follows a clearly defined procedure, which means that you will receive the shortlisted candidates within 4 to 6 weeks. This is followed by your further decision-making process and the candidate's notice period.
What happens if you cannot fill the position?
The full fee is only payable if the position is filled through our headhunting services. However, it is rare that we are unable to fill a position. If we encounter difficulties, we will work with you to develop alternative solutions or search strategies, which usually enable us to find a satisfactory candidate.
